“Any time you have the opportunity to make a difference in this world and you don’t, then you are wasting your time on this earth.” – Roberto Clemente
One of Alfonso’s greatest idols is Roberto Clemente, who has inspired him to take action and be involved in the Latinx community. He has instilled his parent’s immigrant values of being hard working and dedicated to his craft into his daily work. After spending seven years at the San Francisco Giants, Alfonso is excited to continue his work of sharing Latinx stories at La Vida Baseball. He is especially looking forward to being involved in the Year of 21, which highlights his favorite baseball player and icon. Outside of baseball, Alfonso has been involved with Donate Life California as a volunteer and ambassador for organ and tissue donation after he was given a lifesaving transplant. Alfonso values the hard working Latinx baseball players who have often come to the United States for a better life, much like his Nicaraguan parents. Alfonso is a proud Latinx who is looking forward to highlighting the powerful Latinx community in baseball.
